Qualification & Professional Experience

Mr.Stephanos holds:

• B.E (Mech) degree of University of Madras
•  M. Tech (Industrial Engg.) degree of IIT, Kharagpur
•  Post Graduate Diplom in Production Management from West Germany
•  Fellow of Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering
•  Life Member  of Indian Society for Training & Development
•  Member of National Institute of Personnel Management.

He has over 35 years experience with Indian Aluminium Company, Limited, ( subsidiary of ALCAN, Canada ) at manufacturing locations in Kerala and Karnataka, and at the Corporate Headquarters( Vice President, Advisor to MD ) in Calcutta. He held the positions of Maintenance Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Manager-Personnel, and Smelter Manager before taking charge as General  Manager of the Alumina & Smelter Complex at Belgaum.

He transferred to INDAL's Corporate office as Chief Staff Manager. During this assignment, he successfully reoriented and revitalised the Staff Management & Development System. He was trained in Canada in the internationally renowned HAY method of Job Evaluation and acquired expertise in Compensation System.

As Chief Executive - HRD & Quality Systems, he initiated, guided and spearheaded INDAL's Quality Movement integrating it with Training & Development, which had resulted in  outstanding progress in TQM.

As Vice President & Chief Planning Officer, he revamped the Corporate Planning System and guided the Strategic Planning Activity through proper structuring of the planning process.

He was Member-Secretary of INDAL's Management Committee, and the Corporate Group. In training / consultancy work, his clientele includes  Unilever  Sri Lanka, Murugappa Group, Alsthom, INDAL, BOC India, Satyam Computer Services, AT&S India etc.       While with TQMI he has been Counselor to HPCL, ITC, Orient Cements, SRF, Varroc,  DUBAL (Dubai), ERCO (Sharjah), Seville Products (Dubai), Zamil Steel (Dammam) etc

Academic And Other Professional Activities

Mr. Stephanos was Co-Chairman of the Board of Examination of the Indian Institute of Industrial Engineering  and was mainly responsible for getting the professional examination on IIIE recognized equivalent to Bachelor’s degree.

Formerly

• Visiting Faculty at the School of Management Studies, University of Cochin,
• Visiting Faculty in Management at the Karnataka University.
• Member of the faculty of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore for Management Development Programmes.

He also served as Hon. Secretary of Kerala State Productivity Council.  Mr. Stephanos has several publications to his credit. He has presented papers at the National Conferences of Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering,  National Institute of Personnel Management  and  International Conference of Asian Network for Quality  in Singapore.
