Vikram Mehan

Vikram Mehan is a 1978 graduated Mechanical Engineer from Regional Engineering College , Srinagar (J&K), now known as National Institute of Technology (NIT).

Initially he started career with Escorts (MSD) which was later taken over by Yamaha Motor Company-Japan and worked till Mar. 2000.

In the initial phase he worked in Quality Assurance department responsible for product Quality Assurance. He initiated programme on SCEI at Plant as a Quality System Head and was able to make turnaround of selected 50 suppliers, which become the back bone suppliers for Escorts-Yamaha group in later years.

His experience on above was aptly got used in Tata-Nano project for key supplier development across the country.

He was one of the key members for the proposed joint venture projects of Escorts group with BMW from Germany .
It was during above assignments he got the opportunity to work closely with Japanese & German team and could make a good deal of learnings on product and process quality structured improvement initiatives including TPM. During this period he practiced TPM with YMC team on implementing TMP pillars in the plant.

Currently in TQMI he is TPM business vertical head and has supported several organizations in TPM projects including trainings to Kadimi PCC tools, KSB Pumps Pune, Trident Industries Barnala, Gunnebo Halol, HIL-Industries (4 Units), HSCI & Syscom , AMD Industries ( Supplier of Coca Cola)etc.

The companies where he has assisted in TPM at the end of first year has shown an increase of 10-15% in OEE, reduction in wastages by 8-12%, improvement in MTTR & MTBF. Besides this the employees involvement increased by through trainings and participating in SGA's & Kaizen programmes.

Being IATF Certified lead Auditor he has also provided support on Management systems to over 200 companies including some of the known Indian Industries such as Bharti Airtel, Delhi Metro, Tata International, RITES, Tata steel, NALCO, Hero Honda, Max New York Life, Escorts Agri Machinery, Panasonic, GAIL, NTPC, and many others.
