C P Chandrasekaran is a Post Graduate in Mechanical Engineering (Machine Design) from VJTI, Bombay University. C P Chandrasekaran has 27 years work experience in various Industries in Public sector, Private sector and now as a self-employed consultant after his post graduation from VJTI Mumbai. His work has been mainly around Product design especially designing process equipment. He is a trained 6-Sigma Black Belt from Motorola University. Has experience in facilitating problem solving using various techniques including 6-sigma projects.
As a Motorola University trainer, he has worked with organizations which are varied in their product profiles like pumps, trucks or service organizations like telecom service providers.
He has worked with Godrej & Boyce manufacturing in India to integrate their Quality, environment and Occupational Safety systems.
He is a Certified Quality Analyst certified by QAI USA for software projects. In this capacity, he works with Tata Consultancy services, the largest software company in Asia for process improvement in software delivery.
He has worked in are Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (Nuclear Equipment) and Alfa-Laval India Limited in their Product design departments. After the first 15 years with Product design, he joined Confederation of Indian Industries where he worked as a Counsellor for Total Quality management. During that period (1992-1997) was involved in implementation of TQM in various companies like Godrej, Siemens and Bajaj Auto Limited.
He worked with Tata SSL a steel wire manufacturing company in Mumbai where he was engaged in training the entire Managerial cadre in a customized 2 day course on Quality Leadership.
Other areas of expertise
He is a keen student of Process mapping and hence has developed many techniques to help companies to map the business processes for improvement.
Many of these are delivered in in-house programmes for various companies. He is a trainer and a facilitator for awards like CII Exim award (equivalent of European Quality Award) and Tata Business excellence Model (equivalent of Malcolm Baldrige award of USA).
He is intensely engaged with Tata Motors, the sixth largest Automobile maker in the world to implement the model and this year the company got the award getting 633 marks out of the possible 1000.
C P Chandrasekaran believes in integration of Quality models with business needs and to this extent he has been working to integrate Balanced Score card and process improvement. He worked with IP Rings, A piston ring manufacturing company to integrate BSC with Process mapping. Possibly this company could challenge Deming Prize in year.
He has published two papers in the Journal of Tata Management Training Centre. (One was on Benchmarking and another was on continuous improvement).
