Raghavan has done his B.Tech Chem.Eng in 1969 .(A.C.Tech) and M.Tech Chem. Eng in 1971 (A.C.Tech).
During his long stint in SRF he handled Tirecord Project in 1973 at its Blueprint stage and grew with the Company to the level of "Vice president" Works in 1996. During this period he was active in all Technical areas and development,, debottlenecking, as well as new projects.
Raghavan started his career with "The Mysore Acetate and Chemicals" Mandiya(Karnataka) as Junior Engineer Trainee in 1972 and commissioned successfully a new plant producing platiciser, DOP.
He has participated actively in rationallising manpower, improving productivity and handling most of the "Long term settlement” with difficult Union Leaders like Mr.Kuchelan.
In 2001, SRF entrusted him with the position of main Coordinator to lead the task of "Challenging Deming Prize in 2004".By this time SRF had four big plants producing 40,000 Mt of Tirecord and supplying to all Tire Majors in India and abroad.Under his able guidance SRF successfully challenged Deming Prize in 2004 for four units, two in Chennai, one in Gwalior, and one at Dubai. First time in Asia, for Deming audit, at SRF Manali, Chennai, Deming Prize committee had nominated seven senior professors, four of them were "Lead Examiners" and all of them gave good comments about SRF way of working. During the four years of working as Coordinator in Challenging Deming prize, he worked under Mr. Ramnathan who as President TQM helped him to grasp the insight of application of TQM in real life governing Industry and other institutions.
After 34 years of enriching industry experience he retired from the industry but not work and got exposure to many new concepts of achieving productivity, Quality and Customer satisfaction, through TQM. Raghavan has been with TQMI since July 2005.
He has traveled to many countries for Technical discussions and had resolved major technical problems which tire companies faced while processing tire cord.
He was member of NIQR between 1996 and 2004 and participated in number of seminars and other activities. He had good opportunity to work with Japanese system and developed student, teacher relationship with Quality Gurus of Japan like Prof Kume, and few others. Currently he is based in Coimbatore.
He was recognized as "OUT STANDING PERFORMER" in 1987 for achieving maximum production and excellent HR/IR activities which was useful especially under hostile union in Tamilnadu and Chennai.
