Understanding The Levels Of Six Sigma Certifications


What is Six Sigma certification? This is a question that is often heard among professionals involved with organizational improvement. Six Sigma is the most powerful management initiative that helps organizations increase their market share and customer satisfaction, while reducing costs. This methodology has seen success in various industries over time.

This blog will help you understand the various levels of Six Sigma and the importance of each certification. Six Sigma certification in India involves four levels – White Belt, Yellow Belt, Green Belt and Black Belt. Each of this level ensures that every team member within an organization is using the same methodology as the others to deliver best results. Whether a team member is directly or indirectly involved in the improvement process, each individual gains a deeper knowledge of Six Sigma and standardizes the way it is handled within the organization.

All the team members are taught to utilize the same terminology and methodology to employ parameters to identify problems in the existing processes, if any, and deploy solutions to solve them. Everyone is educated with the same tools and analytics to capture results. This kind of development strengthens the team through consistency and efficiency.

White Belt Certification


White Belt Certification is the course that describes the various terms and philosophies of Six Sigma to the learners. This certification is for those who are not involved in the process of improvement. However, the learners of this course can learn about the variations and defects in a process.

Yellow Belt Certification


Yellow Belt Certification is for those professionals who wish to dive deeper into the philosophy of Si Sigma and understand the types of tools involved, the practice of methodology used, and the results achieved within the organization. This course basically teaches about the tools and instruments used in Six Sigma.

Green Belt Certification


Green Belt Certification is much higher than the Yellow Belt that requires professionals to spend months learning and getting their hands on this course, which helps them to gain a deeper understanding of the tools and analytics involved to reduce variation. These tools are used to analyze the current processes within an organization, and come up with significant improvements. A Green Belt professional is one who has three years of work experience and relevant coursework, thus proving his required knowledge of the Six Sigma methodology.

Black Belt Certification


Black Belt Certification is for specialized professionals who are looking forward to become an SME in their workplace. A Black Belt professional is one who has completed two Six Sigma projects with three years of work experience in the Six Sigma Book of Knowledge, and successfully cleared the Six Sigma Black Belt Examination.
