About Six Sigma 

Six Sigma at many organizations simply means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects (driving toward six standard deviations between the mean and the nearest specification limit) in any process  from manufacturing to transactional and from product to service. The statistical representation of Six Sigma describes quantitatively how a process is performing. To achieve Six Sigma, a process must not produce more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. A Six Sigma defect is defined as anything outside of customer specifications. The fundamental objective of the Six Sigma methodology is the implementation of a measurement-based strategy that focuses on process improvement and variation reduction through the application of Six Sigma improvement projects.

 
 

Deming Prize

Deming Prize (DP) established in 1951 is the only truly international prize for effective application of Total Quality Management. Any organization from any country can challenge it.

Deming Prize is awarded to the companies that practice TQM principles, concepts and techniques to meet their business goals and in consonance with the specified criteria over a period of time like 3 to 5 years.

Companies challenge Deming Prize to fulfill business need of substantive performance improvement in a competitive economy using TQM principles, concepts and techniques. It is used as a bench mark. Companies also use it as a means to bring about cultural change in the organization with focus on quality, customer and people development and involvement.

 

Total Productive Maintenance

TPM is a management process developed for improving Productivity& Quality by making processes more reliable and less wasteful.TPM is an extension of TQM(Total Quality Management). The objective of TPM is to maintain the plant or equipment in optimal condition without interfering with the daily process. By following the philosophy of TPM, minimize the unexpected failure of the equipment.To implement TPM the production unit, maintenance unit& quality unit should work jointly.
